Going Away: Part 2

Starting is aways the hardest part of painting. Its easy to build the canvas or board and its pretty simple to prime and sand. Whats hard is putting that first bit of paint on the board. Not sure why that is but I find I have to force myself to get started, regardless as to mood. Once you do get started, you can see the painting start to take shape really quickly. This painting is a portrait of suitcases. Its kind of fun because each piece of luggage ends up being its own little finished painting. Each one is very unique and specific to its era or function and each one has its own little story. More so when I add the luggage stickers previously mentioned.

I've decided to do some time-lapse video on this one: to show how it begins and ends. It took me about 6 hrs to complete this small piece of the painting and I've compressed this down to about 3.5 minutes of video. Even with the video is sped up, I still had to cut a big whack out to get it that short. I hope you enjoy the music I put to it. Its not wholly relevant (Newfoundlanders) but it still a favorite (and the cadence is right ;).
